Shymbulak is Kazakhstan's premier ski resort, 25 km from Almaty center. Ski runs from 2,200 to 3,200 meters altitude with reliable snow from November to April.
Modern gondola and chairlift systems, groomed runs for all levels. The base area at Medeu features the world's highest outdoor ice skating rink (1,691m).
In summer, lifts operate for hikers and mountain bikers.
