Stretching for 80 kilometers along the Charyn River, Charyn Canyon is one of Kazakhstan's most breathtaking natural wonders. Its most famous section, the Valley of Castles, features towering red sandstone formations sculpted over 12 million years.
The canyon reaches depths of up to 300 meters. At the bottom, the Charyn River flows through a corridor home to a relict grove of Sogdian ash trees — survivors from the Ice Age.
The area is a paradise for photographers, especially during golden hour.
